Check out all 10 of them below, and good luck with building your own fortress of manly solitude!
Top 10 Man Caves from Reddit’s
Here are the top man caves from Reddit’s r/malelivingspace in no particular order.
An Old and Very Unique Basement Man Cave
It doesn’t get much more manly or “cave-ish” than u/GilloGraeme’s basement retreat.
The user says that he took on this big project on to keep himself focused after a divorce — really turning lemons into lemonade.
Aside from the beautiful bar and lounge area, the truly unique thing in this man cave is the owner’s choice of adding a natural, grassy play area for his child.
This labor of love shows through in every detail, creating a real retreat from the world that any guy would envy.
Man Cave/Office Combo
With the move to working from home, plenty of guys are finding new inspiration in creating their dream office spaces.
That’s exactly what u/VenmoSnake has done here with a man cave/office combo with bright complementary blue, gray, and white tones.
The giant couch from MGBW is the star of the show, giving depth and ground to the entire space (and a perfect place to lounge and watch TV or game).
This room is on the top floor of his house too, proving that your man cave need not be subterranean to be truly comfortable.
The Ultimate Man Cave, Start to Finish
For an inside look at what it takes to completely refinish a basement and turn it into a man cave, look to u/hollams7’s example here.
His imgur album of the build-out process is impressive, showing details of every step of the journey towards ultimate man cavedom.
The final result seems to pack in everything that you could possibly want in a man cave, including a huge home theater system, ping pong table, live rock jam station, and gaming setup with a racing wheel. At that point, why even bother coming out of the cave?
Nostalgic 80’s Man Cave
For anyone who grew up in the ’80s, u/Citizen_DildoBaggins’ man cave setup will bring wave after wave of nostalgia.
Movie posters greet you as you descend the stairs, and just to the right of them is a full weight room for guys who want to stay fit without coming out of their cave.
There’s a full bar in the other direction, a home movie theater in the next room, and a whole game room just around the next corner — complete with pinball machines and arcade games for a truly retro feel.
Over the top? Definitely. But impressive in its own right.
Basement Man Cave with Faux Windows
The Redditors have agreed: Everyone wants faux windows in their basement man caves now, after seeing how cool they look in u/collegebum1989’s space.
If you’re as enamored of the windows as everybody else seems to be, check out the DIY process that the original poster shared. As far as furniture goes, the creator shared all his details:
- The couch is the Article Ceni sectional: https://www.article.com/product/16217/ceni-volcanic-gray-corner-sectional
- “The art frame on the left is a digital frame – Netgear Meural II: https://www.netgear.com/home/digital-art-canvas/canvasii/
- The thing on the ottoman is an extra-large blanket from Costco (fits two people)
- The TV is a 65-in LG OLED that’s wall-mounted and wires routed in a similar fashion as the window structures.
- The square lights on the right are the Nanoleaf Canvas: https://nanoleaf.me/en-US/products/nanoleaf-canvas/
- The light strips are a mix of Lifx and Govee LED strips: https://www.lifx.com/products/film-fanatics-bundle?variant=41359278244021&gclid=CjwKCAiA5t-OBhByEiwAhR-hm9Sj1HYyr9tqIEJd3qLt9Yx5Xe7EJCM7IblFKMrEwcnoYfiIrG8uQRoCDfMQAvD_BwE https://us.govee.com/products/govee-rgbic-led-strip-lights-65-6ft
- The recessed lights are smart RGB recessed lights: https://www.lumary.tech/products/lumary-4-inch-smart-led-recessed-light-wi-fi-led-downlight-rgbww-can-lights-music-sync-simple-retrofit-installation-compatible-with-alexa-google-assistant-9w-810lm-4-in-wifi-1-pack?spm=..collection.collection_detail_1.1
- All of the lighting is connected via Google Home, and the colors can be changed via voice commands.”
With this much attention to detail, this is a man cave for the ages.
Industrial Man Cave Goals
While no one seems to be sure who this man cave belongs to, there’s still a lot of inspiration to be had in the image posted by u/Poohbizzle79.
The large industrial space has other users comparing it to a fully-fledged bar, with many saying that it’s nicer than any of the watering holes in their towns.
The best comment of all goes to u/JoeyRedcorn, though: “Looks like something out of an 805 beer ad or Jason Momoa’s basement.”
If you’re looking for inspiration for an industrial aesthetic, this is the one for you.
Young Guy’s First Man Cave
Not every man cave has to be a years-in-the-making labor of love from a 40+-year-old guy — because if you’re in your mid 20’s like u/Nintenoob, your tastes may be entirely different.
There’s no denying that this is the *ahem* least mature man cave on the list, but it’s definitely worth checking out just for the sake of variety.
Be sure to read through the comments on this one, too, as plenty of Redditors give helpful advice that you may want to take into account for your own man cave, too.
Studio and Gaming Room Man Cave
And not every man cave has to be dark, brooding, and full of wood tones either!
u/Bokemoke’s studio and gaming room man cave takes the opposite tack entirely, opting for big, bold, and bright neon colors that almost give it a TRON vibe.
Those large orange rectangles on the wall aren’t avant-garde art, though — they’re big sound dampeners that totally change the acoustics in the room, making it a perfect place for the owner to create his own music.
Check through the comments on this one for sure, as the OP provides tons of information about the exact choices he’s made in sourcing and placement for everything in the room.
Firefighter-Themed Basement Man Cave
u/JambaJake is posting for his dad here, showing some love to his firefighter-themed basement man cave.
It’s all classic here, with a pool table set up on one side of the room and a big home theater area on the other. In between is a popcorn maker, a nice touch that helps to tie the functions of the two sides of the room together.
All said and done, it’s an excellent example of sticking with a simple and natural color palette to help keep everything coherent.
Gaming Man Cave Years in the Making
Last but not least is u/Bleu7’s gaming man cave, chock full of nostalgia around every corner and in every nook and cranny.
And though the OP might be getting some flack for his “boyish” tastes, this man cave shows something very important: Your space is entirely yours, and what you do with it should make you happy.
So don’t worry so much about showing off your good taste; think instead about filling your man cave with whatever brings you the most joy. Because in the end, you’re going to be the one who will be staying in there anyway!
