Ready to get cozy? Here are 10 awesome places from r/cozyplaces.
Reddit’s r/cozyplaces draws a diverse group of people who all share the same passion for rooms and places that evoke a mood of coziness.
The sub only really started to take off a few years ago — and if you missed some of the early posts, you might not have seen the coziest places of all time. So we collected the top 10 cozy places from the subreddit and organized them for easier viewing. Enjoy!
Coziest Places from Reddit’s r/cozyplaces
Here are the coziest places from Reddit in no particular order.
A Private Theater Behind A Secret Door
Alright, so you’ll need to turn the brightness up on your screen to watch this video. But man, having a full theater room behind a hidden bookcase door?
That’s about as cozy as it gets when you can shut out the rest of the world and fall into a trance while watching a classic film.
The cameraman could have done well to turn on a light or two, but still — who wants to interrupt a classic like Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom?
A Tiny High Rise Studio Apartment
Reddit user u/pOuYa hit the jackpot when they moved into this tiny apartment just before the pandemic started — because this awesome little 400-square-foot apartment has amazing views over Vancouver, BC.
Other Redditors noted that with that much window space, it sure would be easy to grow a lot of plants and make the place even cozier. But as it stands, it’s still a pretty dreamy apartment for a young single person.
Whiskey Room (Before and After)
Before and after cozy room pics are some of my absolute favorites because you can see the thought that goes into turning a room from bland into amazing.
Redditor u/t3hc0d3m4n takes this to an extreme, though, transforming a dull office space into an absolutely stunning spot for drinking whiskey (complete with a framed picture of The Dude).
Dark wood and leather tones abound here, and that’s a great template to use if you want to make your own whiskey tasting room, too.
Balcony Oasis in Toronto
Another before and after photo from u/Marzana1900 really shows off what you can do with even the tiniest of spaces — in this case, a very narrow balcony off of a Toronto highrise apartment.
IKEA wood paneling goes a long way towards bringing the space together, and a generously padded bench saves space compared to a full couch. Just watch out for moose!
Tiny Living Room in Japan’s Smallest Village
And now for something entirely different: A tiny room in a tiny village, halfway across the world.
Redditor u/Stornow4y found a position teaching English in a small Japanese school and has some of the most dreamy, cozy views that you could possibly ask for.
It just goes to show that you can find cozy places anywhere, not just as hideaways within urban environments.
Bedroom With Black Walls
It’s pretty standard advice to never paint the walls of a room black. But once you get to know the rules of interior design, you can break them just as easily — as Redditor u/shawnstwocents has done in this bedroom.
Matching wood tones and forest green with the black walls was a stroke of genius, as is the addition of animal furs; they all come together to give the room a deep forest, entirely natural feel.
The owner says the room is surprisingly bright during the day and that the black walls really highlight the other details in the room.

A Converted School Bus
For the nomadic at heart, you’ll want to check out Redditor u/sloppyjoesaresexy’s converted school bus.
This is van life on steroids, with enough room to lounge comfortably and never miss the amenities of a full-sized apartment; there’s a full-sized midi keyboard and a guitar just in this photo, for goodness sake.
What’s even more amazing? The owner and her husband built it entirely from scratch and had never used power tools before this build.
A-Frame House at Christmas Time
Can you really get much cozier than laying around the family Christmas tree as a kid? Maybe, as this post from u/photophunk shows — because his parents’ living room in an A-frame house is cozy as heck.
Between the wood floors, the lit-up Christmas tree, and the steady glow from outside, this scene feels like one where you could just melt into the floor and let the holiday season wash over you.
Cozy Garden Library
If kicking back with a book and forgetting about the rest of the world is your idea of cozy, then u/sacrecoeur1206’s post of a cozy garden library will knock your socks off.
It’s modern architecture at its finest and definitely out of the reach of most readers. (Some note that you could definitely turn the space into a whole house).
Nestled into a backyard in Arlington, Virginia, it’s about the most ideal place you could ever imagine for working from home.
A Little Village in the Faroe Islands
And last but not least: An entire cozy village! Located in the Faroe Islands just off of Denmark, this idyllic scene of grass-topped roofs and cloud-ringed cliffs is enough to incite cozy wanderlust feels in just about anyone.
And because the island is so remote, you can just imagine that you’d have the beautiful blue sky nearly to yourself.
