No matter where you live, how old you are or how much money you have, your place is your manor – even if it’s just a one bedroom apartment.
We want to help you optimize your manor to the best of your abilities, both aesthetically and functionally.
Human beings are animals, and as such, they are instinctually territorial. A lot of people seem to forget that the contemporary “man cave” is, in fact, based in large part on its predecessor…an actual cave.
The idea of that first cave is still buried deep in our psyches. Ask anyone. Us homo sapiens are naturally drawn to the idea of having a place all our own.
Protected. Well-feathered. Private. No sharing. Et cetera.
Now, here at Manored, we’re not all about the so-called man cave. We think this version of male living space is narrow-minded, one dimensional and old school.
Your space should be whatever you want it to be. It doesn’t matter how “manly” other people think it is. It’s your space, not theirs.
Manored is about bringing this space into existence. Manored is about becoming one with this space. Manored is about … all that stuff.
“Stuff” might seem like a lame descriptor, and it is, but we like to encourage creative thinking about your space. Your space. You can fill in the blank with whatever you want, and that’s pretty much the point.
If and when you need news, ideas and inspiration, though, here’s what we like to do:
- Collect and organize the best male living spaces from around the web
- Recommend products that help you space your ideal space
- Show you DIY tutorials for improving upon your space (and the things you keep in it)
You could think of us as guides on the mountain of this journey inward, but that’s only half the story. The other half – the important half – is that we are on this trip with you.
We are guys looking for the same things as you. We appreciate comfort. We want quality. We demand freedom to be who we are in our own space.
To be clear, this is about more than showing you what to buy. Sure, there are things that will make our space more livable and more enjoyable, but incorporating objects into life is only one facet of Manored.
To borrow an important point from Chuck Palahniuk (of Fight Club fame):
The teacher who clears all possessions from my path will set me free.
There is something primal about relieving oneself of useless trifles, but we are not purists. This concept is most valuable when resources are scarce, but our hope for ourselves – and for you – is that Spartan living remains a choice rather than a necessity.
In this regard, Manored is about the ability to live happily with less if that is the order of the day. Don’t be a minimalist just because it’s trendy.
We will not deny ourselves the intimate knowledge of luxury. After all, life is for the living, and if living to you means dropping $2 million on a gold-and-diamond-encrusted Bang & Olufsen stereo for your love dojo, then we want to help make that an informed decision.
Manored is the art of embracing your right to the enjoyment of your personal space, whether it is your first solo apartment, your creative studio, your garage or your family’s house.
We all need a private sanctuary from the storm, and we are here to help you maximize its potential.
